Prague That I Know

Where would I begin if I wanted to discover Europe? My answer is Prague.

The Czech Republic was the first country in my journey, back in 2018. I’ve visited more than twenty countries since, and the dream is still alive: every country in Europe by 2030. But some places stay with you in a way no checklist can explain. For me, Prague is one of them.

What does a Prague morning look like? Camera in hand, I’d start on Charles Bridge and wander towards the castle. Give that walk its time—about forty-five minutes, with plenty of chances to stop and take photos. Then find an open place for breakfast. No rush. Let the city come to you.

And when afternoon arrives, where do I go? Old Town Square, of course. Stand by the Astronomical Clock, watch the bells and figures, then stay awhile for food, a drink, and the feeling of being right in the middle of Prague. When I want the rooftops and a little adventure, I take the funicular towards the tower, enjoy the view, and make time for a small hike.

As evening settles in, I drift towards Národní třída: Bombay Express for a meal, a gelato stop nearby, then music, pubs, and those Prague night-time vibes. The city has another story waiting underground, too—cellar pubs with music, tucked below street level.

But what if I had to pick one moment to keep? I’d go back to the Charles Bridge area at night. Find a nearby place for a beer, look up at the castle lit against the sky, and just stay there for a while.

Bas ek baar raat mein Prague ko dekhiye—dil mein reh jaayega.

Add a river cruise, a dance-floor detour, Hamleys or a museum with the family—and you’ll still find more to explore. Prague has plenty beyond my favorites. This is simply where I’d start; the rest of the journey is yours.

My Prague must-do list

  • Charles Bridge: photos, a slow walk towards Prague Castle, and the castle view at night.
  • Old Town Square: the Astronomical Clock and time to sit, eat, and enjoy the atmosphere.
  • Tower and funicular: take in the rooftops and make time for a small hike.
  • Národní třída: Bombay Express, the gelato place, music, and pubs.
  • Nightlife: cellar pubs with music, strip pubs, and the multi-floor dance club near Charles Bridge.
  • More to do: a river cruise, Hamleys, the gardens near Pizza Hut, the Sex Machines Museum, and the Steel Art Museum.
  • A guide: follow the Prague travel channel I recommend.

And Prague without its trams?

That would be an incomplete journey. Tram lines 9, 22 and 23 are a joy to try when you want to roam around the city. And when your feet are tired, just hop on, find a window seat and let Prague pass by—the streets, the rooftops, the everyday city. No rush; just sit back and enjoy the vibes.
